| Chris
McKenna hails from Scotland, but has made his name in the US as a
sought-after director of commercials and TV Promos. He has shot campaigns
for Discovery Channel, Disney, The BBC, National Geographic, Animal
Planet, Geico, Clorox, Kraft, Home Depot and an endless number of
household-name brands.
After growing up in a sleepy Glasgow suburb, Chris
cut his teeth at the BBC's creative services department in London;
a world-renowned unit known for stellar creative thinking. At the
BBC concept is king and no idea too outrageous to pitch. In this
fertile creative environment Chris proved that he could write great
copy, direct the camera, and turn in award-winning spots. After
a transfer to BBC America in 2001, Chris began working at The Learning
Channel, where he wrote and produced promotional spots and marketing
material for major campaigns.
Today, Chris works as a commercial director and
as Creative Director of Wee Beastie, an agency that produces highly
focused advertising campaigns for the entertainment industry. Chris
and the Wee Beastie team have won numerous awards for their work
in national and international competitions. His spots for National
Geographic and Geico were recently showcased at an industry conference
as an example of best-practices.
As a director, Chris has a flair for working with
performers - actors, show hosts, children and even animals. He can
bring out a performance in the most difficult of situations - just
ask him about the homicidal pig.
